Hello,
We will be going on our second trip to Paris in May and am sooo excited to be returning. Last time (2005) for our first trip we got a wealth of information from this site and it%26#39;s good to see all the experts are still around.
This time we are staying in St. Germain des Pres (25, rue Guenegaud to be exact) what are our transporation choices besides a taxi? There will be just the two of us. I know taxis are the fastest. I just wondered if there were other options such as the metro or Air France bus that would still be pretty convienient and fairly easy. If not we%26#39;ll just take the taxi.
Thanks for all your input!

Hey midorigal,
I once stayed at an apartment at 18, rue Guenegaud. It was 232 steps to the Seine.
If you have carry-on luggage, your best bet is to take the RER B to St. Michel/Notre Dame and hoof it over to your place. If you have more luggage, I would take the bus then a taxi, or just a plain taxi. The problem is once you hit rue Guenegaud it can be quite congested if you hit it at the wrong time, so make sure you get a flat rate on your cab instead of a metered cab.

Thanks Pixfield, we are very excited to be so close to the Seine. I ddin%26#39;t realize that one can pre-negotiate a fixed rate with a taxi at the airport.

Great location! I also rented for a week in January at 18 rue Guenegaud and enjoyed the total Parisian experience. We took a taxi, weekday late morning, and the fare was 45E. Fortunately there was little traffic so we had ample time to unpack and then hit the streets. You may pay more for a taxi than for alternative transportation, but the additional cost will soon be forgotten over a bottle of wine at lunch.
Enjoy your stay.

You can%26#39;t.
Unless you have too much luggage I%26#39;d just take the RER and walk the last 1⁄4 of a mile.
Otherwise if you are a fan of shuttles (I am not) you could go that route. The Air France coaches will leave you quite a ways from your destination. Motparnasse wouild be the closest.

Like Irish said, you can%26#39;t. It is not legal. Any cab who does so is probably ripping you off.

Thanks everybody! We will go the taxi route, fastest and easiest and cross our fingers that traffic won%26#39;t be too bad on a Friday around noontime.
We are really excited about the location as well, last time we stayed in Montmartre and loved it but wanted to walk most of the time this time!

When are you travelling?
We have an Apartment booked at the same location .
Studio Mazarine. Thierry Faradji is the landlord.
We will be travelling in June.
If you have stayed there,,,,what was it like?
Any input to the area would be great.

Hi Turning50,
We will be there from May 19-May 31. You must be coming right after? What are your dates? I%26#39;m really excited as I%26#39;m just now realizing that it%26#39;s only about 6 weeks away and I have not done any research this trip yet!!!

Hi,
We will be arriving on June 1st and staying in the same apartment. What a small world. How exciting. Please let me know what you think of the apartment and what I should bring along. We are leaving home on May 28th so if you could send me an email prior to that date I would really appreciate it.

We are arriving via Eurostar as we have a few days in London prior to arriving in Paris. We are planning on taking a taxi.
Have fun and we are also very excited.
Thanks

Hi again,
Indeed a small world, we are leaving Paris and then going to London for 4 days via the Eurostar. I was a bit worried because I could no longer find the Eurostar confirmation on-line but contacted via phone and we are in the system.
I%26#39;ll be sure to keep you posted since Thierry%26#39;s apartment has internet access a very good bonus!
