Accomodation in Saint Germain or Lourve Area?

I am deciding between accomodation in Saint Germain or Lourve Area.

The hotel near the Lourve is a little more expensive, looks nicer, is rated better on tripadvisor, and is easily accesible from Nord and Lyon station, from which we will be arriving and departing Paris.

Buuuuuuut Saint Germain looks like a more lively and interesting area, particularly at night and for restaurants.

Which should i pick??

We%26#39;re in our 20%26#39;s, in Paris for 4 days and want to see the usual sights.

Having stayed in both areas, I would recommend St. Germain, mostly because of your age. In the first arrondissement, night time is quite quiet, but it is much more lively in St. Germain/Latin Quarter areas.

When we stayed on Rue St. Honore near the Louvre, the area was wonderful for exploring the sights, and there was great shopping on rue St. Honore. We easily walked everywhere from there. However during that time, I kept looking for the crepe stands and places to get take away baguettes, and all the bakeries, etc. There were occasional places here and there, and then when we stayed in St. Germain, I realized where they were. Many places in St. Germain des Pres and Latin Quarter areas are also open on Sundays, but the Louvre area is pretty dead on a Sunday.

Have a fun trip.

Personally I would opt for a hotel in St. Germain for the reasons you mentioned.

St. Germain des Pres. I%26#39;ve stayed there nearly annually since 81. Happy Travels!

We have always stayed in the 6th in the St Germain area but FWIW there is probably not a day that goes by that we don%26#39;t walk to or near or past the Louvre area. If you stay within a few blocks of the river, 4 - 6 blocks, you are very close to the Louvre, certainly within easy walking distance.
