Travel from Geneva or Chambery airports to Bourg St Maurice

I want to go skiing in Jan 2010 in Les Arcs. Plan is to fly form Manchester or Liverpool to Geneva or Chambery and then take public transport to Bourg St Maurice train or bus.

Has anyone tried this and succeeded. private transfers look a real rip-off.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ronnie

Hi Ronnie,

Well, it%26#39;s all relative really - private transfers are more expensive than the alternatives but trust me, they%26#39;re barely turning a profit.

Bus is probably the best way to go if it matches your flight times - check out altibus (http://www.altibus.com) which runs services from both airports direct to Les Arcs, or you could get dropped at Bourg station and take the funicular but again, make sure your timings work out.

I wouldn%26#39;t advise taking the train if you can avoid it - From Geneva particularly it%26#39;s a long journey with maybe 3 changes in it. From Chambery I think you can take a (free?) shuttle to the train station and then take the stopping train (about an hour) to Bourg, but bus is still easier I%26#39;d say.

Cheers,
