how & where can i take a bus from monte carlo to eze

I will be in monte carlo from 7am to 2 pm on a princess cruise. I would like to know where I can catch a bus in monte carlo so i can go to Eze for 2-3 hours. What is the bus number ? How long would the bus ride take ? How frequent do the buses run ? How do I get to the top of the town in Eze ( take another bus ?) Where do I catch a return bus to monte carlo ? What is the bus # for the return trip ? Where do I get off in monte carlo ?

Thanks in advance

Bus number 112, first bus to Eze village is at 8am, it takes about 15 mins, buses run about every 1.5 hours. The 112 drops you at the entry of the village in which you have to walk - no cars or buses are allowed. The return bus is the same number and stops on the opposite side of the road to the one you arrive, except it%26#39;s a few yards further back towards Monaco. You can get off either at the end of the line, which is a short walk above the Casino, or get off at the railway station and take the lifts and escalators through the station to come out at the port.

Thanks for the info.

I found this link on line:

There is a bus which leaves monte carlo%26#39;s la cremaillere at 8am. I tried to locate la cremaillere

but could not locate it on a simple monte carlo map I see on line. Where exactly is it ?

For the return trip to Monte Carlo it stops in Roqueville. I also could not locate it. Where exactly is it ?

My mother has walking problems. If we get off at Eze after taking bus 112, are we going to be at the entrance of Eze village where there is shopping to do or sightseeing ? Is it difficult to walk up to the top of Eze ?

Thanks.

what sort of walking problems does your mum have?

eg difficulty with slopes, cobbles, steps,

balance problems, stamina problems /needing to rest every so often, use of stick, walker or wheelchair

etc

To be honest Truffles if your Mom has walking problems this trip to Eze might not be a good idea. On some buses you might find yourself standing for the trip. I am nearly 70 and my husband is 80 and we did the trip to the top but it was a hot day (30+) and we found the climb hot and tiring. If you have travelled before and know hill towns - this is a bit touristy. Also, we have been on many cruises and I would not be comfortable with the time frame you have. By the time you get off the ship and wait to get back on it cuts the time down. The other thing, if you are on a cruise ship, is to get a group and share the taxi cost. We have found this most successful in smaller places. Not trying to put you off - just another Canadian%26#39;s opinion.

Mom has difficulties going up slopes. She has arthritis.

Eze village entrance is at the top of a ramped slope - once inside the village the streets are cobbled and treacherously polished by a million feet [there are now signs saying that the stones are slippy and there is a risk of slipping/falling] and steeper slopes plus twisty , unevenly set steps

There are also steps which go up to the village which i would say was the easier route as one can hang on to the railing but i saw an elderly couple attempting that route a couple of weeks ago but they turned back when they got near the village walls and saw things got steeper from then on -they didn%26#39;t look very well or sprightly though and i hung about till they got all the way down, just in case.

The perched villages were deliberately built to be difficult to access [intending to deter warring raiders, not tourists ]- Eze isn%26#39;t the easiest one to access as its at the top of waht%26#39;s essentially a conical spike of rock .

Some of the others are flatter within the walls and also accessed from a road that is fairly level with the village -it really depends on the geography of the hill or rocky outcrop they are built on.

La Turbie [beautiful views over Monaco , pretty mediaeval town , not very touristy, fabulous Roman monument] would be easier to access for your mum as its pretty much on the level if you don%26#39;t think she could make it up the hill at Eze -

-there are some buses - you should manage to catch the first one or alternatively take a taxi then return on the 11.15

Here%26#39;s a map of the cruise ship terminal and the Cremaillere and Roqueville bus stops:

http://tinyurl.com/nqxbnj

It%26#39;s a bit weird when you click on the link it doesn%26#39;t automatically go to the map, but once you click on the icons on the left, the map comes up.

I%26#39;d agree with the other poster tho%26#39;, if your mum has difficulty walking, you%26#39;d be better off using the cruise ship tour.

The map seems to be loading ok now.

Thanks for everyone%26#39;s help. Yes, you are correct. From the info you have provided I do not think mom can handle the walking at all. Thanks for taking the time to find the info for me.
