We are a family of 5 (3 young children) we are travelling by car from the uk. We will only be spending a max of 5 days in France. Just trying to narrow down our base location. If we find a nice place to stay to suit our family. Any recommendations???? anyone????

There are many B%26amp;B%26#39;s in Normandy with all manner of cottages and rooms for families. Go to www.bandbnormandie.com for the one we stayed at in late April. It%26#39;s a farm just outside Villers-Bocage, which is about 10 miles south of Bayeux. With young children, the delightful owners, Jacques and Odile and their sons, will lay on a tour of the farm for them with all the neat farm animals. There are many other gites as they are called and a B%26amp;B would likely suit your family rather than a cramped hotel room somewhere.

I second the B%26amp;B that Oprah44 mentions.... with your car, it is a great base of operations for Normandy excursions... and a fantastic setting with great owners.... ask for the %26quot;chambre famille%26quot;, which is in the main house and is nice and big...
Enjoy...!

I totally agree with the location that the above two posters have suggested for you in Normandy. Bayeux is a charming town and a central location for exploring the area. Be sure and see the Bayeux Tapestry.
Also, I highly recommend going to Mont St. Michel, but go early in the morning or later in the day because it can be very crowded.
And, of course, the D Day beaches.
