train to Avignon

is there a train to Avignon or do we go back to CDG?

Thanks in advance

There are plenty, but from where do you wish to travel?

so sorry, I thought that we would go back to CDG but someone told me that there might be a train from Marne-la-vallee. We will be at the Marriott time share and then will leave for Avignon for 5 days.

Thanks,

Yes, I think that virtually all the TGVs that go from CdG to Avignon also stop at Marne-la-Vallee-Chessy TGV. You will need reservations. Check the times and make bookings on www.voyages-sncf.com. Then it is probably non-stop to Lyon or thereabouts.

Thanks so much. We will be there in Nov. 2009, is it too early to make reservations? Should be book first class? Do they have senior citizen tarrif?

To travel by train:

1. Tickets are not sold earlier than 90 days before travel.

2. Use the following site: www.tgv-europe.com and select GB or UK as your home country.

3. Look for PREM or iDTGV fares (the earlier you check, the more likely you find them). These are the cheapest fares (including first class which may be cheaper than regular coach fares). You can print these on your home computer. iDTGV tickets must be printed at home.

4. For other fares, check the pick up at station option.

5. To pick up tickets in France, you will need:

a. your reservation number

b. the same credit card as was used in the on line reservation. The agent will want to see the credit card.

6. You can purchase a senior citizen discount card but travel will not be less expensive than the PREM or iDTGV fares described above.

7. For more information:

Thanks this is great information. Now this may a silly question, but on train to Avignon, which side of the trains should we sit. Which side has the best view.

Thanks again.
