Paris to Provence

Hi all,

I am thinking of taking a train from Paris to Provence late night. I have two questions. First, when is the latest train leaving for Provence from Paris. I don%26#39;t need the exact time, just the general time frame. Second, how long does it take from Paris to Provence.

Alternatively, is there bus service from Paris to Provence?

I quickly browsed my Lonely Planet Guide, it seems that having a car is almost a must to visit provence. Then again, Provence is a big region. I am curious to know which cites/places are good to visit for those without a car. Many thanks in advance.

Avignon, Arles, Aix-en-Provence and possibly Nimes. All have excellent trains connections among themselves. Avignon has the best bus connections for visit the Pont du Gard for example but very limited bus service makes visits this way impractical unless you have a great deal of time.
