ParisCDG to Athens-like state-to-state OR Internat'l flight?

After 9 days in paris/nice, I%26#39;m flying from Paris CDG to Athens by Aegeanair.

These regional w/in Europe flights, I wonder if the whole system is the same as flying from state to state here in the USA?

Or is a Paris to Athens flight treated like an international flight?

Please enlighten me. I%26#39;m from US and this is my first European holiday.

Yes, it%26#39;s an international flight - passports, X-rays, metal detectors, customs etc.

You will need to check what time you need to arrive at the airport - and don%26#39;t imagine that you can just arrive 1/2 hr prior to departure!

You will need a passport if you are a US citizen to be allowed to board the flight and pass through the usual security checks. Since this is an intra-EU flight you will not normally go through customs.

Despite what Tour Manager says, it is like a state-to-state flight in the USA. You have to provide proof of your identity (passport) and go through the usual security, but there are no customs or immigration controls.

Despite what SidneyNick says, there very much are immigrations controls. There will be separate lines for EU and non-EU passport holders. As you can imagine, the lines for non-EU people move far more slowly.

Tradeform and Sydneynick have it right. Aegeanair might be able to best give you your answer on its website, or check the website of the destination airport for intra-EU flight procedures.

Interesting. I flew LHR-%26gt;CDG in March after having been in the UK for a week, so not as part of one journey. I went through both immigration (in a separate line for non-EU citizens) and customs (cursory) in Paris.

It%26#39;s an international flight (between two nations) but isn%26#39;t Greece part of the Schengen area? So there are no border controls or customs, the same as flying from Paris to Rome, or Frankfurt or Amsterdam or .....

The UK has an opt-out from Schengen, hence the need for passports when travelling to and from London.

Air travel security screening happens everywhere though.
