its half price to meet the dolphins on the actual day of the birthday [proof required]

Otherwise is 35 euros per adult high season , plus 69 for the person meeting the dolphins -and a small charge for access for any accompanying people [5 or 6 euros if I remember rightly]

If you are interested in taking the hop on hop off bus tour in Nice and visiting the chagall museum, exotic garden in eze and or monaco, picasso musum in Antibes or guided walking tours in Nice and some other stuff then its worth it to buy the Nice pass for 72 hours which includes Marineland entry and all the other things mentioned free, the Nice 72hr pass costs 54euros and allows unlimited access to the hop on hop off bus

Helicopter tours (prices are for 1 to 4 people) :

10%26#39; flight (departing from Monaco only) = €240

20%26#39; flight (departing from Monaco or Nice) = €460

30%26#39; flight (dep. MC or Nice) = €600

40%26#39; flight (dep. MC or Nice) = €800

60%26#39; flight... err... do you really want to know?

Giving your partner a %26#39;Smartbox%26#39; could be a good idea (different themes : extreme sports, gastronomy, wellness, etc. and a wide range of activities to choose from), unfortunately you would have to purchase it on their French website for activities to do over here but they don%26#39;t deliver abroad (unless you can arrange to have it shipped to your hotel/address in Nice?).

Thank you both for your replies.

Would you mind advising me further?

We will be staying in an apartment by Matisse museum are we just a short walk from the prom?

We will have a 5yr old with us.

What is this area like?

Is there anywhere near we are staying we can take the little one to play?

I have heared the beach is very pebbly, and so been advised to travel to other parts where it is sand, due to the little one?

We would like to go to st tropez and Monaco for days out, what is the bus service like?

A nice restaurant for us to go for a special night?

Things for us to do bearing in mind the little one.

Please add any advice you may think relevant.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Amanda

he Matisse musum is in Cimiez -a fair distance from the sea

Its a pleasant residential area but its a bit out of the way

An astuce i discovered today though, is that the bus 24 links up with the tramway [via valrose tram stop] and halves the journey time into town or to the beach from cimiez . The bus 24 goes to and from the hospital in Cimez every 13 mins. It is then stops from the Liberation Market and there are plenty of supermarkets, picards down there etc for food an there is also a monoprix near the matisse museum

In cimiez the olive grove by the matisse museum is a big area where families have picnics etc

I%26#39;d head to villefranche by bus or train or Antibes by train for beaches

Also your son might like to visit the wolf park - bus to St matin Vesubie then shuttle to Le boreon

its also possible to fish for trout and have it cooked at %26#39;O a la bouche%26#39; restaurant by the wolf park -and there are other places to eat there

Your son might enjoy parc phoenix - lots of birds animals fish reptiles etc etc - kids and free , adults are 2 euros - big play area there too and events for kids during the school holidays

st tropez is a long way away

there is a boat trip from Nice

2 and a half hours each way -that%26#39;s the easiest method

Monaco is easy a bus or train = quick and cheap

Thank you so so much.

This is a great help to me.

Hi Amanda,

If you%26#39;re planning a day trip to Monaco, you could take the little one to the Oceanographic Museum :

oceano.mc/anglais/sommaireinfos_anglais.htm

and/or to the Larvotto beach :

plagesmed.fr/plages/…plage-larvotto-uk.html

It is not my favourite beach, but I must admit that kids love it! Besides it%26#39;s very handy : easy access, public car parks, toilets %26amp; showers, restaurants %26amp; bars, kids%26#39; playground, trampoline, etc. It has both stretches of public beach and private beach clubs (the child-friendly ones are %26#39;La Spiaggia%26#39; %26amp; %26#39;Le Miami%26#39;).

Another suggestion would be to visit St. Jean-Cap-Ferrat and take the little one to the zoo :

www.zoocapferrat.com

For a special dinner, I would recommend the following restaurants in Nice (no view but great food) :

www.christian-plumail.com

www.doncamillo-creations.fr

If you need more info, feel free to ask!

Just thought about a boat trip that you might all enjoy : there%26#39;s this marine conservation society based in St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat that organises dolphin (and whale) watching tours (Adult = €50 Children under 12 = €35 for the 3-hour tour departing at 9.00 am). One of my sons is supposed to do it sometime this week as part of a field trip organised by the municipality, so I%26#39;ll have more details if you%26#39;re interested.
