Paris with a toddler - Marais v. St. Germain-des-Pres

My family is planning a month long visit to France in May - June finishing up with a week in Paris. We are planning on renting an apartment and I am wondering what the areas of Marais and St. Germain-des-Pres. are like from a parent%26#39;s point of view. We will be traveling with a 15 month old baby and both of these places advertise that they%26#39;re baby friendly (i.e. cot/highchair available, lift). Specifically I%26#39;m looking at two places:

I%26#39;m most concerned with accessibility to the sites - we%26#39;d like to park the car in a car park and walk/metro to the major tourist areas. Both places are at the far top end of our budget.

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions are appreciated.

Cheers!

No contest for me between the two. The first one( Marais) is smaller, and has only a double bed, apartment in St Germain has a king size bed and is larger all together.

We are going to be in Paris during Easter with two children - one is a toddler.

We have booked the Novotel Gare de Lyon - They have an indoor pool and Novotels tends to be very child friendly with play area in the Lobby - etc.

The great thing with Paris is all the parks with playgrounds. Buy some cheese, baguette and other nice things and let your toddler run around and play. Much nicer than being stressed in an expensive restaurant.

You do not need or want a car in Paris: parking would be very expensive. If this is the end of your holiday, return the car the day you arrive in Paris.

The sights in Paris are spread out: no matter where you stay you will need to use the metro to get to some of them. And no matter where you stay, there will be a metro station nearby.

Remember to go to the various puppet shows in the Parks. My children loved them when we went. They were 3, 5, and 8, didn%26#39;t understand much more then bonjour, merci, and avoir, but had a grand time!

What was your decision in the end? Curious about your experience as we will be with our toddler and baby in September...trying to figure out if we should just spend the extra $$$ to stay in the 6e, or if there are better areas for kids. Thanks!

We finally wound up in the the 6th near the Eiffel Tower in a 1 bedroom about 2 blocks from the Rue Cler markets. No baby gear but there was a lift. I%26#39;d say spend the money and stay in the 7th - when I contacted the owner about that apartment I was told it was already reserved. I guess they just didn%26#39;t keep the website calendar up to date. Most places were pretty child friendly but depending on the age of your baby, there are a number of restaurants that don%26#39;t have high chairs or only booster seats. We got a %26quot;tot seat%26quot; before we left and it was probably the best %26quot;baby gear%26quot; investment we made. From walking around, I%26#39;d say the Left Bank was definitely quieter and our neighborhood was really residential which we liked a lot.

Thanks for the update! We will probably refocus a bit then to 5e, then 6e or 7e.
