Hi-What is the best way to get from CDG to the centre of Paris ie; hotel nr The Louvre. The hotel has quoted 80EUR for 5 people in a private minibus, which seems extreme!
Any cheaper suggestions?????????

You can take the RER and metro - I think it was 8.60 euros each. That is the cheapest way.
From CDG you go to the RER station, buy your ticket, and ride the train into town to the very large Chatelet les Halles station.
Find out from your hotel what the closest metro station is. At Chatelet you can transfer to several different metro lines and another ticket is not needed. The stations have good signs telling the metro line and the final destination, which gives you the direction.
Be sure you have a good map of Paris that includes the metro system. You%26#39;ll want to have that with you at all times so you can walk and walk and then hop on the metro when your feet give out.

One other note...if you decide on the RER (not glamorous, but that%26#39;s my choice, too), do travel light. It is very difficult to lug lots of luggage on and off the train. Have a great time!! I%26#39;m staying in that area in early October.

You could take the RER/Metro as described. You%26#39;ll probably need to change to the Metro at Chatelet and take M1, direction La Defense, a couple of stops. If you have luggage you can easily carry and climb steps with and no children to keep track of while you find your way, this is the low cost option.
A shuttle will cost a few euros more. Allonavette will take 5 adults in a private shuttle for 69 euros (children under 5 free), load your luggage and drop you off in front of your hotel. You can pay them by credit card when they pick you up but you%26#39;ll need to arrange for pickup in advance:

is the metro/RER faster than the shuttle?

Hopefully someone will have a more research based answer, but I think it depends on the time of day.
During rush hour a shuttle could get stuck in traffic and the RER could not. Otherwise I%26#39;m guessing the shuttle might be somewhat faster.
