What has happened to this service mentioned in 2008? The airport site reports no public transport to the city. Can Ryanair arrange flights and the leave you in the middle of nowhere! Taxis do not seem to be dependable as one site reported none to meet an incoming flight.

I think the shuttle was offered in 2008 because Ryanair landed around 10:00 pm.
Taxis are a bit of a problem in france generally but I picked up my partner at Angouleme airport last week and there were 3 or 4 taxis outside the arrivals lounge (may have been pre-booked of course).
We run a gite north of Angouleme and offer airport pick ups for our clients. We have 7 seat people carrier + roof box.
The answer to your main question is, yes, Ryanair can drop you in the middle of nowhere. The CEO of the airline has already made it clear he is going to charge passengers to use the onboard toilets!

my father flew in to Angouleme last week and there were a number of taxis waiting. he hadn%26#39;t pre-booked the taxi but he was one of the first off the plane as he had no checked-in luggage.
