Nos Chambres en Ville - has anyone stayed here?

Hi

I am planning a trip to Lyon (just a quick one night visit) and would love some help! Has anyone stayed at Nos Chambres en Ville in rue rene leynaud? It looks to be a lovely b and b in a spot that suits us but no reviews....

Also we only have one night in town - is there somewhere that Lyon experts would suggest for a true Lyon experience (Bouchon style I think is what people are suggesting)?

Lastly we do have two half days - what are the things we should really do and see to soak up the feeling of the city?

Thanks in advance...

I am sorry but I don%26#39;t have any feedback on Chambres en ville.

As I see you are new on the forum, may I sugggest that you first browse the forum: you will find a lot of restaurant recommendations (including my favourites bouchons and IndianaTraveller%26#39;s recent feedback on Café des Fédérations) and also recommendations about the must see and must do. Just browse a few threads after their titles, or use the search box (right above on the page (for example type %26quot;bouchon%26quot; and you will be able to follow the threads dealing with this).

You could also have a look at Lyon websites to figure out what you would like to do:

Thanks Only-Lyon. I have spent a fair bit of time going through your previous posts about the must sees in Lyon (there are so many and the information is awesome!). The areas I am most interested in seeing are -

- Vieux Lyon (where does the funicular leave from?)

- Fourviere Hill

- Presqu%26#39;ile

- Croix Rousse (can you visit the workrooms of L%26#39;atelier De Soierie or just the shop? where does the funicular for this area leave from)

Based on everything I have seen on the site I think I will extend the time spend in Lyon to two nights and 1 and 1/2 -3/4days. We are going back to Paris for a few days from here so I can be a little flexible with train times.

Is Cafe des Federations the best bouchon for us to try? Any other recommendations for the other night? Perhaps somewhere for a drink that has a nice outlook?

Lastly is it worth organising a lyon city greeter tour? From what I have read these look great but would love an insiders opinion.

I will be travelling with my husband and we are both in our early 30s. Interested in history and are real foodies. My husband has been to Lyon before for work but does not really have any places he remembers but loves the food of the region. It would be great if you had any more ideas that would help us.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Good addresses may depend on the season: when is your trip planned?

If you use maps google, you will find out where the métro stations are located; the funicular to Fourvière is in Vieux-Lyon métro station. Here is the public transportation map that might be useful; you will see the 2 funicular lines up Fourvière hill, one to Fourvière church and one to the roman theaters (stop at Minimes) and the funicular line to Croix-Rousse hill:

L%26#39;Atelier de Soierie is actually at the bottom of the hill, it is located very close to place des Terreaux, so you won%26#39;t need to take the funicular. But I suggest that you take the funicular up to Croix-Rousse station and walk down through the %26quot;traboules%26quot; (ask for the map at the tourist office when you arrive). If you are interested in silk industry, don%26#39;t miss la Maison des Canuts where you will see the a Jacquard loom, and the Musée des Tissus!

Also enjoy a stroll along the Saône banks and look at the painted walls (don%26#39;t miss the %26quot;Mur des Lyonnais%26quot; !).

Yes Café des Fédérations is one of the best bouchons. I also like Chez Abel (2nd arrondissement in Ainay neighborhood).

I will answer to your %26quot;best places to have a drink%26quot; question when I will learn more about your dates.

Thanks again. Your information is fantastic. We are not actually going until next year - probably in April/May. I just love travelling and planning the trip makes it feel a little closer. I will keep am eye on your posts until we go.

Thanks heaps!
