Likewise, we%26#39;re hoping to be in Avignon/Orange around the end of September and are interested in staying in a B%26amp;B or small family run hotel - definitely no chains.

Try Le Colbert just inside the walls. Very convenient to trains and buses. Tourist bureau is almost next door where you can book tours and be picked up. The hotel has a wonderful breakfast room and the owners are lovely people. Great value also!

For a special place to stay in Avignon, I recommend la Banasterie:

We have just come back from Avignon and stayed for a week at Chez Marie. There are several reports about it on Trip Advisor. It is a ten minute walk to the city walls and also to train %26amp; bus station. The proprietor, Marie, is lovely and very helpful.

thanks for response ,the photos look just right,

We had a lovely stay (within the walls, views of the River, beautiful courtyard garden) at Lumani B%26amp;B. really lovely place.

Gets lots of good reviews on TA, which is how we found it.

PS: Where is Fitzroy Crossing? It sounds like a romantic outpost somehwere!

thanks for lumani suggestion, needing cheaper, have been looking at le colbert ,looks quirky and if price ok will be all good

fitzroy crossing is tiny town in far north western australia, has a general store, 2 alcohol restricted pubs, a small hospital, mainly for service of aboriginal communities in the area, beautiful country
