Hi all:
My husband and I will be in Nice from July 5th- July 8th. What would be a good area to stay? Any hotel suggestions? Also, what would be a good day trip from Nice...maybe montecarlo???
Thanks in advance for you help!

Hi there,
It totally depends on your budget hotels can be quite expensive. If you want seaview would try Hotel Suisse or Le Meridien. I personally like Mercure Notre Dame but you have to book a prestige room with private garden views, they have a rooftop pool with a nice terrace for drinks and it is handy for tram and rail station for airport bus and trains to anywhere on the riviera. Do not get a taxi from the airport it is so expensive for such a short journey.
Personally dont like Monte Carlo, overated, overpriced, dont believe the hype.
Would visit Cannes and nearby Iles Des Lerins, Antibes, Villefranche, Eze Village or Menton.
Have a good time.

what are you interested in?
what sort of things do you like to do/see on a day trip?

We%26#39;ve stayed several times at the Mercure Promenade des Anglais, which has a prime location 10 minutes from Vieux Nice and the Place Masséna. Sea-view rooms are still affordable, but whether you can get a reservation this late in the season I don%26#39;t know. You might try venere.com to see what%26#39;s still available in Nice for July.
We didn%26#39;t find Monte Carlo that interesting, especially with Antibes and St-Paul-de-Vence close at hand. The peninsula of St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat offers stuning views of two bays and the attendant coastline and is a very nice place to spend some time.

I totally agree with the above posters.
We went to Nice last summer and it was amazing! You will have the best time!
We stayed at the Westminster Hotel on the Promenade de Anglais. We loved it! The hotel was in the perfect location. We ate breakfast overlooking the water. We were close to the Old Town. You have to go to the produce/flower market there. It is wonderful! It is pretty close to the Niceville station, as well- about a 10 minute walk away, so it is very convenient to get the train.
We adored Villefranche sur mer( quaint, beautiful), Eze Village ( medieval village), and Antibbes
(lovely beaches). We liked Cannes, but Monte Carlo was not our thing. For us, it was too modernized.
Enjoy!
