Nice on Mondays

We arrive Sun afternoon early July (leave Thurs) in Nice from Paris. Have read many your tips, great advise. One blog on another site mentioned everything was closed in Nice on Monday. I am trying to plan a loose itinerary for our 3+ days.

I would like to take the bus to Ez/Monaco as suggested. Should we do this on Monday or will I find places closed in Ez and Monaco too.

Other days will be Cous Saleya and the %26quot;Castle Hill%26quot;.

Beach time, Matisse and Chagal Museums.

I also love the idea of walking to Villefranche as suggested.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Its very possible that stuff will be closed. We spent three months in Annecy in the French Alps during the winter and nearly all shops, museums etc were closed every Monday. I only came across one shopping centre which opened on a Monday.

Hopefully someone else will have more info for you!

Matisee and Chagall musuems are shut on a Tuesday

the fruit/veg/flower/fish markets are shut on mondays

The main shops in Nice [jean medecin , Nice etoile centre etc] are open on a Monday - smaller shops are often shut for the morning at least.

Shops in smaller places are generally shut all day but the touristy shops in Eze village will generally be open as they don%26#39;t have a full year season.

Best thing is to check if there%26#39;s a specific place you want to see on a Monday, for instance a museum or gallery. There%26#39;ll always be some restaurants and shops open for the tourists - generally if you stick to the tourist areas you%26#39;ll be ok.

For us collectors, Monday is THE big day in Nice, when in the morning the Cours Saleya becomes an enormous antique market.

What time does the antiques market close? Hope we get there in time for it! Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I read that Cours Saleya is an antique market on Mondays. We was going to go there on Wed when they are a food market, buy a picnic lunch, then hike to Castle Hill stopping at the Museums on the way up and back. Now maybe I%26#39;ll go both on Mon and Wed.
