Hi,
I%26#39;ve arranged car hire through Atlaschoice who use the local supplier, ADA, at Bastia airport. The terms and conditions specify that the %26quot;driving licence must be international%26quot; - this contradicts the relevant EU regulation whereby member states must accept each others driving licences. ADA website is in French only and whilst I can get by in French I%26#39;m not good enough to find the driving licence requirements section to see what they say on the matter.
Has anyone used ADA and been OK with a standard UK driving licence?
Thanks for your help.

%26quot;driving license must be international%26quot;
I interpret this to mean that the license must be internationally recognized, a license from any developed country. If you needed an IDP (International Drivers Permit) I%26#39;m sure the company would so state.
As this question comes up far too often, I decided to ask a close friend of mine, who is the police chief of a city in Provence, specifically if his officers ever ask for an IDP. He assured me that unless you were in the country for an extended period of time (1 year for example), whatever license you carry is more than sufficient as long as it was valid (not expired for example).
As far as ADA is concerned, I have not seen anything in their literature requiring clients must obtain an IDP. Of course you can always spent the money for one, but I believe it is a needless expense.

Thanks for that, I had reached the conclusion that we would be OK with a standard UK licence but just wanted reassurance to be on the safe side - we%26#39;ve never needed an international driving permit for anywhere else in Europe!

Hi, just rented a car on Sat through EuropCar and used my %26#39;regular%26#39; driver%26#39;s license with no questions, and no problems. Hope that helps.

And I forgot to mention that I rented it in Calvi.
