I have realized that if I return to Paris one day earlier than planned, I could conceivably take a train to Saint-Fargeau and catch the end of a stage of the Tour (one of my want-to-dos) - but that would mean arriving on Bastille Day - I know about the big parade ( I was there once) but does arriving by train on the big holiday present any logistical issues? Also, if anyone knows whether my plan to catch a day of the Tour is a good one or not, I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks in advance.

All public transport will be running that day, and restaurants and cafes will be open. I believe that, during the morning parade along the Champs Elysees, some of the metro stations along the route are closed, with the trains running through them without stopping.
