outfit and transportation for 3 days in Paris and

Hi, we%26#39;re arriving July 10-13 in Paris with 2 adults and 11 yr child.

a. how%26#39;s the weather and do we need an umbrella and are sneakers okay?/ we%26#39;ll be carrying a backpack,

how is it when it rains and you have to go inside a museum with wet umbrella or things?

b. we%26#39;re staying by rue turbigo coming from gare du nord from london, we plan to visit tourist spots and also versailles, what mode of transportation or tickets do we need to purchase. we dont mind walking but not a lot.

i appreciate your advice.

Versailles is closed on Monday,, and will be busy and crowded on sat and sunday as those days( besides being the weekend) will be the %26quot;Fountain show %26quot; days. This means you must pay more to get into the upper gardens to see the Fountain show,, or not... but then you will be still dealing with extra crowds. So, personally, with only 3 days,, you may wish to rethink a Versialles visit with such a short trip to Paris. I would go myself,, have been many times,, but I love it and do not have issues with crowds. Do not show up with no ticket or pass, the lines will be INSANE,, make sure you pre purchase one or the other. Go to the Versailles website and buy it online or use a day of a Musuem pass.

Weather,, who knows, look on weather site a day or two before you go. Mind ,, it seems they always have it down as possibility of showers,, even if it doesn%26#39;t,,but just go prepared. Light rain jacket and a sweater. Runners are fine,, you will see hundreds of other tourists in them, so you won%26#39;t really stand out.

Back packs are not my thing. You must hold it in front of you in crowds,, and on a crowded metro,, pickpockets love it when you carry it on your back. If bag is large you will be asked to check it in many museums. If small, carry it discreetly like a shoulder bag and you may get in with it. They are concerned about people bumping into art works if they wear it on their backs,, has happened. . Umbrellas if wet should be checked in cloak rooms.. this seems obvious to me, unless it is a small one you can wrap up and put inside your bag wet.

PS My 12 yr dd loved Marie Antionetts Hamlet( the little fake farm village she created to %26quot;play %26quot; in) so don%26#39;t miss it,, its a nice break after the crowded and stuff palace. Animals, fish ponds, and quaint little buildings... very fairytale looking almost.

thank you for the suggestion, i dont mind the crowds so we might brave the weekends since it might be years before our next trip to europe.

thanks

Be at Versailles right when it opens (9 am I think) with your online ticket or Museum Pass and you will have a bit of time before the crowds arrive.

We are in Paris right now,it is very hot. Bring warm and cool layers of clothes, because weather changes daily. This week is warm even in shorts and dresses.
