le prix du pain at my favorite boulangerie just went up 4.5% following the summer vacation - a %26quot;baguette tradition%26quot; starting yesterday is 1.15 euro.

|||

dear Bridget.....actually it was my husbands idea, he spotted the advert and we deviated from my itinerary.

It was one of the mose memorable afternoons of the trip and well worth a visit, not just for the Bridget Riley but the rest of the exhibits.

great thread for info on prices coats are cheap beer costs a fortune :) what is a baguette traditional? is it a plain bread stick without a filling?

steve. will be flying out to manchester tomorrow whoo hooooooo,paris in september will miss the brigit expo by 2 days :(

|||

A baguette tradition is less doughy, a little crisper, and is price about .20 € higher than a plain baguette; a plain baguette is still below the magic 1€ mark, at least for now. The price of bread used to be fixed by law in France (maybe until the 1980%26#39;s) and boulangers sought ways to differentiate their products and charge more. The price of bread is generally reevaluated at the end of each summer vacation, and this year saw a 4.5% increase in my daily dose.

If you like a glass of wine as we do make sure you see the carte/menu and order accordingly. There was no menu and I asked for deux vin rouge and got two tiny wines at 15 E. Partner got caught out also at 18.50 E. First was in Montmartre and 2nd was St Germain but not anywhere fancy. Lesson learned for me.
