getting from barcelona to collioure

My plane gets into Barcelona at 8:45 am- I just miss the train to perpignon-IS there another good way to get to

collioure earlier than waiting for the 4:40 train?

See www.eurolines.com

They leave from either Barcelona Norte or Barcelona Sants and stop at Perpignan station. From Perpignan you can take a train to Collioure.

See www.sncf.com for timetable.

There is another way but it involves very careful planning and it is not convenient if you have a lot of luggage : Go to Barcelona bus station (Metro stop Arc de Triomp - exit %26quot;Sortida Napols%26quot;, it%26#39;s less than 5 mn walk) and take one of the many busses that go to Girona airport.

There is one every 30 minutes or so. They are run by an independent company called %26quot;Sagales%26quot; which has arranged to have them coincide with Ryanair flights and there are MANY Ryanair flights in and out of Girona ! See www.sagales.com for tmetable.

This is what I do when I go to Barcelona : drive Perpignan to Girona, leave my car at Girona airport, take the bus and back.

From Girona airport, take the FrogBus to Perpignan (there is one leaving at 2.15 pm) which stops at Perpignan station. Then take a train to Collioure.

See www.frogbus.com for timetable and reservation.

You could also get off the Frogbus in Le Boulou and arrange to have a taxi meet you at the bus stop (which is way out of town and near the motorway exit) and drive you to Collioure. This would require advance reservation and, as said earlier, very careful planning.

I once had a similar problem. The journey from Barcelona to Collioure etc can be done by local trains, but as the Spanish and French trains do not generally connect at the border station of Cerbere the options are limited.

You don%26#39;t say what day of the week you are travelling but this might work, given the time it takes to retrieve luggage and take the train from the airport to Barcelona city centre and the Sants station:

Barcelona Sants 1046 arrive Cerbere 1330, leave Cerbere 1417 arrive Collioure 1433 but this one is on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays only.

or

Barcelona Sants 1246 arrive Cerbere 1530, leave Cerbere 1547 arrive Collioure 1606. This option runs daily.

You might have to buy two tickets, but the good news is that the fare to Cerbere is 11 Euros and from Cerbere to Collioure only a few more, so you might be able to manage the whole journey for less than 20 Euros. No reservations or mucking about with advance booking either, but take a bottle of water!

Check times and fares at www.renfe.es for the Spanish side and at www.voyages-sncf.com for the French side.

Hope that helps.
