Decouverte Carte Orange Hebdomedaire

Hi all

Just one quick item i found out.

I was doing simple math online.

And its funny-- getting a Paris Viste for 5 days will cost A LOT MORE $$$$$$$ than just getting a Hebdomedair Carte Orange (which is 2 days longer!!!) ...do people realize this? it doesnt make mathematical sense to do otherwise....

The rub is that the weekly carte orange ONLY starts on Mondays. So if your trip does not align (as my most recent did not) then you%26#39;re out of luck.

%26lt;%26lt;do people realize this?%26gt;%26gt;

Generally, readers of the Paris forums do see a lot of posts about the overall lack of value in the Paris Visite passes.

As stated, the Carte Orange (in conjunction with a Navigo Decouverte card) is valid from Monday to Sunday so if you arrive late in the week, its not really an good option.

The carnet de dix (10 single ride tickets) is a good choice for many visitors and at 11.40 is a good value.

Carnet price starting in July will be 11.60. Carte Orange 17.20

The Carte Orange is a good deal but only if you arrive on a Monday or Tuesday.

So far I only arrived at the right day on my most recent trip.

Our family of 4 will be arriving on a Monday, so the Decouverte sounds perfect. Can you buy them at the RER station at CDG, and if we buy Zones 1-6, does anyone know if we can use it for CDG to central Paris, and also central Paris to Disneyland? Would that also get us to Versailles?

Even though they don%26#39;t offer a reduced price for kids, I think these passes will still be cheaper than 2 adult and 2 kids Paris Visite passes.

Thanks for starting this thread!

Hi pmmcTO,

Yes, you can buy it at the RER station at CDG. Notice that you only need zones 1-5 (CDG and Disney are zone 5, Versailles is zone 4).

How old are your kids? Maybe there%26#39;s a better deal for them.

Thanks OhadB. At the time we travel (not until next year), the kids will be 11 and 6. From what I read, the Decouverte Carte Orange is the same price for both adults and kids. The Paris Visite pass seemed to be more expensive and for a shorter amount of time, even factoring in the kids%26#39; discount.

Is there some other type of pass that you know of?

Thanks again for the info!

OhadB

We purchased them at the CDG. We got zone 1-5. That would be enough for central Paris from CDG, Disney and Versailles.

Print passport type photos at home and bring them with you.

pmmcTO,

Considering the ages of your kids, if you decide to buy a pass form them the Navigo Decouverte will be the best (notice that the Paris Visite for kids is valid for kids under 11, so it won%26#39;t be an option for your elder son). Kids under 10 are entitled for a half priced carnet and a half priced ticket for the RER, but nevertheless the pass will be much easier and hassle free option.

Thanks for that info!
