I was wondering can anyone tell me is it possible to make a day trip to Honfleur from Paris?
If it is could you travel there by public transport?

Technically, yes, it is possible.
Realistically, it takes so long it isn%26#39;t really worth it.

As far as I recall, there is no railway station in Honfleur, so you would have to travel probably to Deauville and then take a bus.
If you rent a car you%26#39;d be looking at a 2.5 to 3 hour drive each way subject to traffic.

I wrote about this in another recent forum...you can take the train from Paris to Deauville then take a bus or taxi from there to Honfleur. Whatever you do, DON%26#39;T take the train from Paris to Lisieux. Stay onboard until you reach Deauville. We made the mistake of getting off because the SNCF ticket agent in Paris told us that was the best way to get to Honfleur. We ended up having to pay around 50 euros for a taxi to Honfleur because once in Lisieux we were told that there wasn%26#39;t any bus service to Honfleur. Big mistake! You don%26#39;t really need much time in Honfleur. It%26#39;s small and picturesque. The port is lovely and there are quite a few nice restaurants around it where you can eat. There%26#39;s also a small museum that%26#39;s interesting but that%26#39;s about all. Bonne chance!

I think it%26#39;s too much for a day. I would go up to Deauville, check that out, make your way to Honfleur on the bus, spend the late afternoon and evening there, and return the next day. It will cost more money in the end, but you will get your money%26#39;s worth more than zipping up and back in one day.

We just spent a week in Honfleur. I would suggest a rental car. Honfleur is about two hours away from Paris, easy direct autoroute.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and helpful advice. From what i have read there seems to be some very interesting things to see there.

Don%26#39;t get me wrong -- Honfleur is a gorgeous village; one of my favourite towns in France.
BUT.
A gorgeous village is really all it is -- there%26#39;s nothing in particular to see or do.
If you%26#39;ve no intention of renting a car, which would make the trip much shorter, I%26#39;m not sure it%26#39;s worth the trip.
If you%26#39;ve no intention of spending at least one night in or near Honfleur -- I%26#39;m even less sure that it%26#39;s worth the trip.
It%26#39;s a very, very long commute for a day trip, with really not much to do once you get there.
