Atlantic Coast accomodation on the beach

Hi

I am interested in spending a few days with my son on the french atlantic coast. A bit father son quality time, learn to surf, good wine, cheese etc.

I have heard that it is nice in the North.

I would be grateful for any recommendations .. we would like to stay on or near the beach. A small comforatble family run place would be ideal. We would like to go in the next two weeks for about 4 or 5 days.
