We%26#39;re arriving in Paris in the morning on July 28 and staying at the Hotel des Carmes in the Latin Quartier. If it%26#39;s nice out that day, I thought it would be fun to walk over to the Roman arena near the Jardin des Plantes and get some picnic food for lunch. Any good markets near there, or even a reasonably priced brasserie?
Thanks.

Consider heading to Rue Mouffetard, which is quite close to the Roman arena. There is a daily open-air market on Rue Mouffetard as well as shops that can provide you with excellent picnic food. The street also has many good, reasonably priced restaurants.

There is a large Champion on St. Marcel stocked with anything you could need for a picnic. Bus 91 goes right in front and to Austerlitz which is right across from Jardin des Plantes.
A McDonalds (hear me out) is right next door and you will find lots of French picnicking with McDo.
