Day trip from Reims

We have 3 days coming up at the end of August in Reims. We would be interested in spending a full day touring around.Has anyone visited Domaine Chateau du Barive in Saine-Preuve or perhaps down to Verzy? We would like to stop at a couple of smaller champagne houses.Any suggestions which way to head?

Have a look at tourisme-en-champagne.com/route_touristique_… It shows you one of the champagne trails in the Department. Verzy is on the trail as is Verzenay, which is one of the 17 villages which produce Grand Cru Champagne. It is a good idea to buy the makings of a picnic from a charcuterie in Reims and then at one of the champagne houses buy a half bottle of champagne to accompany your picnic lunch.

Each village will have at least a dozen champagne producers, some will give tours and all will offer degustations, virtually all for free, so you can be well informed on what you buy.

Have fun. We have done the route several times and our favourite for Grand Cru Chamapgnes is Michel Henriet in Verzenay.
